SALEM SCHOOL BOARD HONORS VITAL COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Salem High School offers a course titled “Education for Work“ for those students preparing to enter the workforce. The goal is to move students toward increased independence and autonomy in the community. Students are provided opportunities during the school day to go to the off-site locations and complete tasks at area businesses in preparation for future employment.
The following businesses have worked with the SHS Education for Work II Class: Salem Animal Shelter, Salem YMCA, LewisGale Medical Center, Spartan Square Starbucks and Roanoke College.
The board thanked representatives from all of these organizations for their sharing their time, talents and expertise with the students.
