Fall 2017 SURN ESL Workshops

If you are a grade 3-5 classroom teacher who has English Learners (ELs) in class and you wonder how you are going to meet their needs, this Fall workshop series is for you! Join us as we explore the concepts of teaching students for which English is a second language. These workshops will combine content with specific classroom strategies you can use tomorrow to meet student needs. Over the course of this interactive series we will examine academic language, specifically, Building Background and Oral Language Production, including practical strategies and activities for differentiation, higher order thinking, group work, and c ontent connections.
October 12: Building Background
November 9: Reading Strategies
November 30: Writing Strategies
This set of workshops is designed as a series, and we would love to see teachers attend all three to build their knowledge and skills as well as to share with one another. We offer a discount to teachers registering for all three together; however, we will take registrations for single days if a teacher can only attend one.
