Spring Semester 2018 Elementary Workshops

Sponsored by the Salem City Schools Gifted Department

Both of our Spring 2018 offerings are after-school activities.  Parents will need to provide transportation to and from both activities.  Students may choose one or both of the activities.  Registration is required! The registration deadline is May 11. There is no cost to students for either activity.

Activity 1: Friday, May 18, 2018, from 5:15pm-6:15pm

“Library Scavenger Hunt” at the Salem Public Library

Librarian David Butler will invite our students to join a fun-filled scavenger hunt in the Salem Public Library on Main Street. The hunt is scheduled after normal library hours, so our students will have the facility to themselves. Be careful…you may learn something new about books and libraries! Let’s just say this will not be a “quiet” activity!

Activity 2: Friday, June 8, 2018, from 3:30pm-4:30pm OR 4:45pm-5:45pm  Once registrations are received, we will assign each student to a time slot.  Parents will be notified in advance of their child’s time slot.

“Experience Escape Room Fun” at Riddle Me Roanoke

Riddle Me Roanoke will host our groups at their escape room business, located at Oak Grove Plaza on Electric Road.  Students will work together in groups of 6-10 to solve a mystery. The mysteries are NOT scary! They are tricky, however. Each group will have 1 hour to solve the mystery of its room. A SCS chaperone will join the students in each room.
