SOUTH SALEM’S DEWAYNE HARRELL RECOGNIZED BY SCHOOL BOARD FOR HAVING HIS WRITING PUBLISHED
The Salem City Schools Administration and School Board recognized and congratulated DeWayne Harrell for his recent article “Beyond Surfing” that is published in the November issue of the Virginia Journal of Education. The article serves as a resource for teachers on the use of Google Classroom to promote communication and collaboration, and provides a framework for initiating Google Classroom in individual classrooms and throughout a school. Mr. Harrell is pictured with South Salem Principal Margaret Humphrey and School Board Chairman David Preston.

The Salem School Board recognized some very special employees at this week’s regularly scheduled meeting. “Support Staff Superstars” from each school, the central office and the transportation department were honored with a reception and formal congratulations by the board.
Each fall since 2014, the administration recognizes one outstanding support staff employee from each school or area. Each work location nominates one outstanding support staff employee each year and theClass of 2016 is comprised of some student and faculty favorites.
