41. England the people/Parliament revolted against the monarch and began the process of giving people rights with their Bill of Rights.  After Glorious Revolution Parliament now has more power than the monarch. 
42. United States Revolts against England and takes revolution one step further by having democracy, giving people many rights and freedoms, and by not having a king.
43. France Tries to do what US did.  People revolt against king.  Leads to chaos.  Napoleon takes over & creates an empire.  Leads to all of Europe being at war.
44. Haiti Slaves are inspired by US & French revolutions.  They overthrow whites and create 1st black run country in New World.  Led by Toussaint L'Ouverture.
45. Latin America Bolivar takes ideas of revolution to Latin America.  Eventually all Latin American countries become independent from European control.
46. Vienna capital of Austria.  home of Congress of Vienna.  Metternich leads conservatives who don't want revolution in an attempt to stop future E'pean revolutions.

Italy before 1861, Italy was made up of city-states.  some were ruled by non-Italians.  the pope controlled Rome and was very powerful.  Garibaldi conquered the southern part of Italy and united it with the northern part.  the French still protected the pope in Rome.  they were conquered in 1870.  Italy became unified.  Rome was the capital.
48. Germany before 1871, there were 39 independent German states.  Prussian & Austria = most powerful.  German states began working together after Congress of Vienna.  Bismarck leads Prussia into wars against France, Austria and Denmark.  He gets control of most German lands.  this becomes Germany.

52. Japan 1853 American Matthew Perry convinced Japan to sign a treaty and trade with US.  People thought it was unequal and they rebelled putting the Meiji leaders into power.  The Meiji wanted Japan to be as modern and imperialist as the western countries.
