South Salem Mission Statement
The South Salem School community envisions maximizing the educational potential of each of its students through the use of differentiated teaching approaches. Students will succeed socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
South Salem students will be involved in appropriate educational experiences. These experiences will bring about mastery of state and local standards which will assist the student in functioning as a contributing citizen in a local, country and global community.
The cooperation of parents, students, teachers, and community will foster an environment which provides for mutual respect and an appreciation of education and learning.
Philosophy
South Salem encourages the partnership of faculty, staff, parents, businesses, and students. The faculty and staff combine their skills with parents to facilitate the maximum in student achievement in all developmental areas and to provide student safety and well being.
Objectives

To provide students with opportunities to develop positive interpersonal, social, academic, emotional, and physical skills.

To communicate to parents and the community the Standards of Learning (SOL) objectives.

To maintain at least a 90% pass rate on SOL tests in core subject areas.

To provide staff development in current strategies for teaching the SOL objectives.

To provide parents, faculty, staff, and businesses continued opportunities to improve the learning environment.
- To provide improved school climate, staff development, curriculum/instruction, and communication through the use of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS/CASI) School Improvement process.
