Chromebook Management & Care
Charging Your Chromebook
- Students need to charge their Chromebooks at home each evening.
- Chromebooks must be brought to school each day fully charged.
When To Close Your Chromebook
- Close it when you’re not using it. Protect the screen and keyboard from unexpected impacts or exposures.
- Close it when storing it or walking with it. This makes it less likely that you’ll bump or drop the Chromebook. A closed Chromebook is less likely to land in a position that causes severe breakage if dropped.
How to Transport the Chromebook
- It’s best to put the Chromebook in a dedicated section of your backpack.
- If it’s not in your backpack, carry the Chromebook with your hand underneath it between your arm and your body.
- Don’t hold a Chromebook by the screen. This can cause damage to the screen.
- Make sure that nothing is on the keyboard before closing the lid. This can cause damage to the screen.
- Do not press the Chromebook between the rings of a three-ring binder and anything else.
- Do not place objects on top of the Chromebook or try to squeeze it into tight spaces, such as an already full backpack. Putting too much pressure on the device can crack or crush the screen.
How to Avoid Common Chromebook Damage
- Keep food and drinks away from the Chromebook.
- Do not expose the Chromebook to excessive heat or cold.
- Cords, cables, and removable storage devices must be carefully inserted into the Chromebook.
- Chromebooks must remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers, or labels. Static decals are acceptable and encouraged.
How to Care For Your Chromebook
- Gently wipe the Chromebook screen with a microfiber cloth to clean it.
- Never use any product containing alcohol, ammonia, or other strong solvents.
- Never spray or wipe with Windex, household cleaner, water, or cleaning wipes.
